Close Through representing ALLMI, I have been involved with the CSCS Scheme and latterly the CSCS Alliance since circa 2015 and have seen the benefits first-hand of the collaboration and shared learning, as the alliance develops and grows.
My commitment as Chairman therefore would be to play a pivotal role in representing the alliance as an ambassador, further enhancing ties through relationships with the built environment sector, alliance partners and importantly, the CSCS leadership team. I intend to be a high-profile outward-facing advocate for our aims, whilst also seeking to gain a deeper understanding of the wishes of all stakeholders and the further improvements we can achieve together whilst pursuing the core aims of the Alliance.
I am committed to providing a highly personal level of engagement, with a style which includes my well-known self-deprecating humour (when appropriate), showing transparency, respectful awareness and empathy to the people and organisations that I work with and for. Should I be successful in being elected to this role I give my undertaking to give it the energy and commitment it deserves.
Profile
Dynamic senior leader with a proven record of driving collaboration, governance excellence, and strategic influence across construction-related and lifting sectors. Over thirty-five years’ experience, including prior roles as Managing Director of Palfinger UK and two-term Chair of ALLMI, bringing deep expertise in industry competence, safety standards, and regulatory engagement. Recognised for an engaging leadership style, stakeholder trust, and the ability to unite diverse organisations behind shared objectives that enhance professionalism and safety across the built environment.

• Directed national operations, governance, and commercial strategy for a market-leading brand in construction and logistics-related equipment and services.
• Built strong partnerships with user-organisations, contractors, regulators, and training bodies to embed
competence and safety as core business principles.
• Drove digital transformation and workforce development initiatives aligned with modern construction
standards.
Chair (Two Terms), Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers & Importers (ALLMI)
• Led the UK’s representative body for the lorry loader industry through significant governance and competence reforms.
• Chaired national committees, fostering collaboration between manufacturers, training providers, Tier 1 groups and regulatory agencies.
• Represented the sector at many pan-industry and policy groups, ensuring alignment with the Construction Leadership Council’s priorities.
• Championed fair and transparent standards, helping to develop and improve training and certification frameworks industry-wide.
